Seriously, there is some amazingly complicated technology in your printer, including the printheads, the ink, and the mapping software. You take your printer for granted, but that box can cover a piece of paper in millions of dots of precisely located, color-matched ink in a few seconds. Inexpensive laser printers do follow the inkjet business model. Check what the yield is of the high capacity toner and do a bit of math to figure out what the true cost of ownership is. My Samsung ML 1640 Laser (I think around 50€ at the time) still works without issue after 4 years. I very seldom had to pull out a sheet that got stuck or something. It has Linux drivers, but usually it runs without any further configuration with system drivers on various Linux distributions like Kubuntu or LMDE or Win7.
Click on theApple Iconin the upper-left corner of the screen, and selectSystem Preferences… You can now close all the dialog boxes that are open.

You have a suspension of pigment in a solution that has to reliably form consistent sized droplets that get sprayed out of microscopic holes in the printhead onto the paper, and stick there. The end-user doesn’t want to worry about these things, they just want to print. I had to argue with my mom for a couple years to convince her to ditch the inkjet.

- Scripted adding printer names/connections to HKCU (saving the user’s time and avoiding user GPOs).
- If no drivers are available from the hardware maker, check Windows Update or even the disc that came with the computer or piece of hardware, if you received one.
- I don’t see why anyone would waste that much money on something that sucks.
- Note that most of the drivers are old, unmaintained code, for old printers which we do not have access to for testing.
Replace Cartridges – Even if your cartridges are not empty, there may be another less obvious fault that means the printer won’t print black. If you exhaust other possibilities, it is a good idea to replace all your printer cartridges to try and solve the problem. For the best results, we recommend using Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridges. The toner cartridge itself may have toner «leaking» from it, causing excess toner to get on the paper and other parts of the laser printer. Leaking toner, in general, can make a mess on the paper and inside the printer. Can you spot a paper jam or hear a low-toner alarm from three offices away?
